Tony has a wildly diverse musical background, singing and playing seven instruments throughout his life. At 13 years of age, he was asked to play in a band featuring singer/writer Bobby Bare, opening for Jeannie C Riley (of ‘Harper Valley PTA’ fame) at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium. Between that time and now, he has been asked to perform on keyboards in many music festivals including the Hartford Jazz Festival, where he performed for an audience of 45,000. Thompson has toured with jazz trumpeter Cindy Bradley and jazz blues guitarist Calvin Edwards among his favorites. A map of his performances on the east coast would spread like buckshot as far north as the Feather and Wedge in Rockport, Mass and as far south as the Jazz Tapas Cafe in Savannah, where he played with international sensation Calvin Edwards. Tony fondly recalls performing in widespread venues like the Weston Inn in Weston Vermont, Table 9 in Atlantic Beach, NC, the North Carolina Jazz and Wine Festival, the South Carolina Jazz Festival and The High Cotton Hotel in Greenville,S.C.. In central North Carolina, gig dates include many and most of the night spots in Raleigh and surrounding boroughs. He has produced seven album-length recordings and saw his original music placed on the network TV show ‘Fringe.’ Here is a link to Tony’s most recent records, Jazz Organ: In Velvet and Conversation With Bill
